VLAMERTINGE Valcke Prefab Beton has achieved silver CSC certification for both precast concrete and in-situ concrete. This gives the family business recognition for corporate social responsibility in the construction chain. The certificate also offers clients and construction partners an important asset in the realization of sustainable and BREEAM-certified buildings.
For the official presentation of the certificate, SGS senior auditor Remy Zwerus (SGS INTRON) descended to Vlamertinge, where managing director Charles Valcke received it among the field flowers laid out in front of the offices.
"Silver is very good" confirmed Remy. "Most companies achieve bronze on an initial evaluation. I find it remarkable that Valcke is very close to a gold score except for a few issues. For a first certification, that is an excellent achievement."
"This certification is a crucial milestone for our company," Charles Valcke proudly adds. "It confirms our commitment to quality, environment, transparency and cooperation with all stakeholders. But above all, it enables our clients and construction partners to realize more sustainable projects and to achieve a better score on BEEAM."
The CSC certification (Concrete Sustainability Council) evaluates companies for environmental, social and economic sustainability. Valcke Prefab Beton was able to present strong results in all areas thanks to concrete actions, including:
With the CSC label in its pocket, Valcke Prefab Beton offers its clients an additional asset in their pursuit of a better score in BREEAM-certified buildings. BREAAM is the most widely used method to assess and certify the sustainability of buildings. This allows our clients (including property developers) to valorize this added value in a higher rental or resale of their building.
The certification follows earlier steps, such as the application for the construction of a small-scale wind turbine at the Vlamertinge site. That project, too, is part of the ambition to maximize the use of renewable energy and the electrification of our business activities.
In addition, the company continues to pay attention to responsible raw materials, CO₂ reduction and the principles of the Flemish Concrete Agreement. Valcke is also working to implement alternative cements and is committed to circular concrete with a lower carbon footprint.
"In the realization of construction projects in concrete, we want to be a leader and further move towards a more sustainable business" concludes Charles Valcke. "This recognition is the result of the hard work of our entire team and our external partners."
