Second Safety Battle on June 22 edition East Flanders in Ghent!

"On June 22, the second 'Safety Battle' is upon us. 

A-SAFE, VDAB & Hilaire Van der Haeghe, started this initiative to explicitly celebrate the people behind the profession, to focus on the importance of a safe working environment. Due to the great interest shown during our first edition, we feel encouraged to continue!

Forklift drivers have a stressful job. They have to meet daily deadlines in hectic environments. Liantis noted more than 1,500 accidents in 2022. For this reason, the partners want to draw extra attention to safety within the industry. So with more than 2,000 job openings, there is a great need for skilled forklift operators in our country.

It's a great job that impacts every consumer. Every product that passes over the counter is ultimately transported by forklift, whether it's raw materials, semi-finished goods or the latest shoes you ordered online. Good warehouse agreements and sound and light signals can alert workers when danger is imminent, increasing the safety of forklift drivers.

On June 22, the Safety Battle edition East Flanders will be introduced. Because the work of forklift drivers is often taken for granted, the team wants to emphasize that this is not the case at all. It is a good time to reflect on how we can increase safety in the workplace, something that is often underestimated by the outside world."

This event will take place at VDAB in Ghent.
