If you visit booth 4148 at Transport & Logistics 2025, you will meet a proud team from Valcke Prefab Beton. One of the reasons: at the end of August, the Ypres family business earned the silver CSC (Concrete Sustainability Council) certificate for both precast and in-situ concrete. With its presence at the trade fair, Valcke Prefab Beton wants to show the logistics sector how precast concrete offers a future-oriented and sustainable solution for the construction of warehouses, distribution centers and production halls.
In recent decades, Valcke Prefab Beton has become a fixture in the Belgian and northern French construction sector. More than 20,000 realizations already bear the stamp of the company. From the main site of 250,000 square meters in Vlamertinge, at least 120,000 cubic meters of concrete are produced annually, both in precast elements and in situ concrete. Together with sister company Traconord, Valcke guarantees a strong presence in the border region.
The strength of the company lies in the combination of scale and family anchoring. Thanks to its centralized production and flat organizational structure, Valcke Prefab Beton can count not only on the most advanced techniques, but also on short lines of communication and personal assistance for each client. With four hundred employees - 95 percent of whom live within a twenty-kilometer radius of the company - the company remains strongly locally rooted.
Valcke Prefab Concrete distinguishes itself by carrying out the entire construction process in-house. From engineering and production through transportation to assembly, every step is organized internally. This offers each client the assurance of tight planning, maximum quality control and seamless coordination of the entire process.
For the logistics sector, this translates into sustainable and functional buildings that meet high standards. Spans of up to forty meters and clear heights of up to twenty-eight meters make it possible to use space optimally, while overhead cranes and other technical facilities can be flexibly integrated. Valcke Prefab Beton has already delivered numerous distribution centers, warehouses and production buildings that are ready for the future.
An important milestone this year is achieving the silver CSC (Concrete Sustainability Council) certificate for both precast and in-situ concrete. This gives the West Flanders family business official recognition for corporate social responsibility throughout the construction chain.
The certification tests companies for environmental, social and economic sustainability. Valcke Prefab Beton achieved strong scores thanks to tangible investments: a water buffer basin of no less than seven million liters for reuse of wastewater, recycling of concrete rubble into new granulate, four thousand solar panels with public charging points, electrification of the vehicle fleet and a thorough policy on safety and training.
"Most companies achieve bronze on initial evaluation. The fact that Valcke Prefab Beton immediately achieves silver and is close to gold is an exceptional achievement," says Remy Zwerus of certification body SGS INTRON. For clients, the label means an additional asset when realizing BREEAM-certified buildings, as certified concrete contributes to higher sustainability scores.
Valcke Prefab Concrete's sustainable ambitions extend beyond this certification. The company is committed to renewable energy, CO2 reduction and circular construction. Its own windmill project is in the pipeline, while alternative cement types and circular concrete recipes are also being researched. In this way, the construction firm wants to contribute to the realization of CO2-neutral buildings in precast concrete.
For transport and logistics market players, who themselves face major sustainability challenges, this is a relevant message. Companies investing in new storage and distribution centers can, with Valcke Prefab Beton, count on a partner who not only thinks about efficient use of space, but also about the environmental impact of their buildings.
