Their advanced electro-hydraulic system provides an optimal balance between power and efficiency, improving cycle times and allowing more material to be processed in the same time. This provides improved profit potential.
These next-generation material handling excavators are powered by the Cat C4.4 engine, which is biodiesel compatible up to B20. The engine's maintenance-free aftertreatment system, which meets EU Stage V and EPA Tier 4 Final (US) emissions standards, reduces operating costs and maximizes machine availability. The choice between Power and Eco operating modes fine-tunes the form required for the task at hand, with 10% lower fuel consumption than previous models without sacrificing machine performance.
A 12% wider, stabilized track improves the operating stability of the Cat MH3022 when lifting with enlarged working range. The MH3024 offers up to 7% greater swing torque, allowing more material to be moved faster. The high lift mode on both models increases lift capacity so heavy loads can be handled more efficiently. The standard SmartBoom™, which allows the boom to move freely up and down without using pump output, allows the operator to concentrate on grapple operation and provides a smoother cycle.
A range of attachments and new reach options is available for a variety of applications for greater flexibility in operating the MH3022 and MH3024. The versatility of both excavators in skip design can be increased by equipping the equipment off-site with a 15 kW generator for working with a magnet.
New standard technologies on the Cat MH3022 and MH3024 skip-mounted excavators provide additional protection during operation. New cab protection helps the operator by preventing contact between equipment and the cab. By requiring a PIN code to start the engine, the new operator ID ensures that the machine is not operated by unauthorized persons.
Large tempered glass windows with narrow posts in the redesigned cab design provide better overall visibility and operational safety. Standard cameras for right and rear views, which can be upgraded to 360-degree views, display video images on the large touchscreen monitor in the cab to further enhance job site visibility. Thicker, impact-resistant windows and skylights comply with EN356, P8B and P5A standards.
A ground level stop switch shuts off all fuel supply to the engine and shuts down the machine. Standard emergency boom and stick lowering valves, which prevent oil backflow in the event of an unexpected loss of hydraulic pressure, keep the lift arm safely in place. All daily maintenance points are quickly accessible from ground level, while a new service platform with steps provides easy, safe and quick access to the upper service area.
The new-generation cab, with a choice between Deluxe and Premium versions, offers a joystick control option, eliminating the need for the steering column, for significantly improved forward visibility, legroom and cab accessibility. Entering and exiting the cab is further facilitated by tilting the left console upward. All controls are comfortably positioned in front of or within easy reach of the operator to avoid unnecessary movement.
A larger 254 mm (10-inch) touch-screen, high-resolution monitor equipped with a rotary knob for easy navigation of intuitive operator controls. Different operators can save their specific joystick settings and preferred operating mode settings, and the machine automatically chooses the settings based on the operator ID. Both models offer a maximum cab height of 5750 mm (18′, 10″) to improve visibility when loading and material handling.
Standard Product Link™ records key business data such as location, hours, fuel usage, productivity, inactivity, maintenance alerts and fault codes, which can be viewed and tracked remotely to promote fleet management efficiency.
The new 50% hydraulic oil filter, which lasts longer than previous designs, improves filtration and extends drain intervals to 3,000 hours of operation. New anti drain valves keep hydraulic oil clean during filter changes. All fuel filters offer a coordinated change interval of 1,000 operating hours, and the new air intake filter with pre-filter unit lasts up to 1,000 hours for reduced maintenance requirements.
Machinists can easily monitor filter life and excavator maintenance intervals via the high-resolution monitor in the cab. The highly efficient cooling fan, which requires no operator interaction, is equipped with a standard automatic reverse function to keep cores clean and maximize machine availability. An optional vibrating cooling screen is activated during reverse fan operation to further enhance dirt and dust removal.
