With the construction holiday around the corner, it is of course tempting to dream away to camping or the beach already. However, those who still want to buy a nice used machine can go to Ritchie Bros. in Moerdijk. There, a hefty equipment auction is scheduled to open on Friday, July 17, and close on July 22 & 23. Bidding is entirely online and items can be previewed at the site on the days before the auction. On offer in this last auction before summer break are over 1,500 items, including excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, aerial work platforms, elevators, passenger cars, trucks and more. Registering and bidding in the auction is free and easy. This video explains how online bidding works:
Because of the corona virus, Ritchie Bros. auctions are held entirely online. All over Europe - and thus also in Moerdijk - they use an online auction system that the auction house has been using for years for such items as excavator buckets and other smaller items. "Of course we miss the singing of the auctioneers in Moerdijk," says Diederick van Haselen, Regional Sales Manager Benelux & Nordics, "but the feedback from customers is very positive. We see that our fully online auctions are well liked by bidders and buyers. They have more time to bid and the system is very user-friendly."
All those machines in such an auction come from somewhere, of course. Mostly from companies in the construction and other sectors that adjust their fleet and turn one or more machines into cash. According to Van Haselen, by the mid-2020s the need for selling machines is increasing in the Benelux market. "We are getting more requests. Fortunately, there is healthy demand from our international buyers right now. Indeed, we saw a considerable increase in number of bidders at the last Moerdijk auction thanks to the online auction system that is very easy to use. With this we realize good sales results for our selling customers. Looking ahead to the end of the year, now is a good time to look at selling one or more items with us."
