Rijkswaterstaat seeks information on circular innovations in GWW

To meet the Dutch climate goals and strengthen the economy, the government is making the national infrastructure more sustainable. As a major client, Rijkswaterstaat wants to be fully climate-neutral and circular by 2030, with high-quality reuse of all materials. To this end, Rijkswaterstaat is looking for information on circular innovations.

A large number of circular innovations, products and process innovations have already been developed for the civil engineering (GWW) sector. In 2018, a initial overview created by the Netherlands Institute for Building Biology and Ecology (NIBE). Meanwhile, the national strategy for climate neutral and circular infra projects 2030 in progress. To better understand the current range of innovations and the innovative capacity of the market to help achieve the strategic goals, we are now conducting a survey.

Submit your innovation

We ask market participants to submit circular innovations for NIBE's research. We assess these innovations with a number of impact indicators in accordance with Guideline 2.0 Measuring circularity of Platform Circular Construction '23. This resulted in a 'shortlist' of frontrunners with the most promising circular innovations, which Rijkswaterstaat wants to actively bring to the attention of physical test spaces such as the 'Innovation strip A58' or relevant construction projects. In addition, the results of this study will be actively shared with you.

You can use your Register circular innovation until September 9, 2020.

Innovative capacity of the market

How innovative are companies active in Dutch civil engineering? Does your organization delay innovations or does your organization seize the opportunity to further digitize, improve competitiveness, or become more sustainable? The Amsterdam Centre for Business Innovation of the University of Amsterdam annually conducts The Dutch Innovation Monitor from.

At the request of Rijkswaterstaat, this monitor will also be conducted separately among companies active in Dutch civil engineering. You can participate until 9 September 2020 The Dutch Innovation Monitor. This takes about 10 minutes.

What happens to the result?

With the information on available circular innovations and the innovative capacity of the GWW, Rijkswaterstaat will determine its strategy to meet the goals for climate neutrality and circular working together with market parties.
