In the transport sector, where deadlines are unforgiving and margins are constantly shrinking, reliable data is worth its weight in gold. Transport and logistics companies need solutions that not only record data, but above all take care of everything. Orditool OpenICT—headquartered in Kampenhout, Flemish Brabant—has been doing just that for twenty years. Company manager Wim Peeters explains how the software automatically reads tachographs, monitors driving and rest times, and links all data directly to payroll processing.
According to Peeters, Orditool's strength lies in specialization. “We deliberately focus on the transport sector that is subject to tachograph requirements,” he says. “Companies that operate trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons are subject to strict European regulations. Our tools ensure that this complexity becomes manageable, without transport companies having to create additional administration.”
With more than 3,000 customers, Orditool has grown to become one of the most widely used platforms in its niche. The various product variants—Orditach, Orditrack, Ordifleet, and Ordisense—together form an ecosystem for automatic tachograph reading, track & trace, and efficient fleet management. “Our software downloads the tachograph data fully automatically and analyzes it for violations in 25 languages,” explains Peeters. “What's more, the planner can see in real time how much driving time a driver has left. That makes the work safer and more efficient.”
OpenICT is also looking beyond the traditional truck. The company is currently working on a new device with the look and feel of a tachograph, but specifically for light vehicles that are not subject to tachograph requirements. “Many organizations work with mixed fleets,” says Peeters. “They want a single, uniform way to record driving and rest times. We will soon make this possible, fully integrated into payroll processing.”

One of the companies that relies on Orditool every day is Transmeat from Londerzeel. The distribution center supplies meat products, prepared meals, and butchery supplies to more than 150 butchers in Belgium and manages a fleet of thirteen trucks.
Fleet manager Dirk Bracke calls the digiDL-Box a game changer. Whereas tachographs used to have to be read manually, the data now arrives on the Orditool platform completely automatically. “With our fleet, you can imagine how much time that saves,” he says.
Thanks to the comprehensive dashboards, Transmeat can accurately monitor work performance, driving and rest times, driver card information, and medical screening. Fleet management is also smoother thanks to automatic notifications of maintenance deadlines and inspections. “We take away stress for our drivers and avoid fines. That way, we quickly recoup our investment,” concludes Bracke.
