Optimization in products and mixtures

With that, you can lower MKI values

With the new plant, concrete company Bosch Beton is distinctive in sustainability. The plant itself has been designed BREAAM-outstanding, making it one of the most sustainable concrete plants in the Netherlands. The goal is to produce concrete retaining walls 100% circularly.

"The optimal cooperation between all chain partners is a very important factor in this process," says Brechtje van den Beuken-van den Bosch.

Good development

"The market is moving faster and faster, a nice and above all good development. I think the Corona crisis can help accelerate realism," Brechtje observes. "And we are moving with it." Earlier than expected, Bosch Beton decided to further expand capacity at its concrete plant to store and process new raw materials. "The new plant has been operational for less than a year and already we are expanding by 30%. With this we are responding to market developments." Bosch Concrete will once again work with UBO Engineering to realize this expansion.

New blends

"The plant was already ready, now we are continuing our innovation on the raw materials and our concrete mixes," Brechtje continued. "In addition to the high expectations of geopolymer concrete, among other things, several tests have now been completed on new mixes, including new biological aggregates. After testing comes certification and only then can we apply them to our products, because quality must always be guaranteed. Our new Ecomix provides 17% CO2reduction, and 14% is more acid-resistant." The latter is especially important for the service life of a retaining wall. Especially when exposed to extreme conditions or storing "acidic" organic products as happens in the agricultural market. Bosch Concrete looks and produces very specifically for the various sectors. "For GWW, concrete products have to meet very different requirements and be increasingly specific for the customer," adds Brechtje. "Hence the new expansion in our plant."

Construction after Corona

"Getting quality rather than lowest price will continue to be a major challenge. Especially if the Corona period brings fewer projects to market and contractors have to fill their order books more quickly. I can imagine that in such a situation people will be tempted to tender mainly with the lowest possible price, at the expense of quality and sustainability."

"However, you can also distinguish yourself positively by steering towards sustainability together with the client. For a purchaser or a contractor, that may seem complicated and a lot of hassle, especially if there is little time or personnel. However, this is not necessary if you engage a supplier such as Bosch Beton. We already have this in order, so any purchaser and contractor (large and small) can easily outsource this to us. That offers perspective then." Brechtje concludes, "It's already there and so it can just be done. If you want to build sustainably, ask us about the possibilities!"
