Today [Sept. 4, ed.] VIL opened the brand new immersive room CILO - Circular Logistics in the presence of Minister-President Matthias Diependaele. CILO is a first for Flanders and by extension Europe: a unique experience where companies interactively discover the shift from linear to circular supply chains.
CILO brings the entire process of circular logistics to life, in a way you won't experience anywhere else. A circular economy ensures that discarded products become new raw materials and the immense mountain of waste disappears. CILO illustrates how to make circular supply chains a successful business model: socially and locally, as well as on a global scale.
Minister-President Matthias Diependaele is deeply impressed by this VIL initiative and emphasizes that circular economy is a top priority for Flanders.
"Flanders is today a European pioneer in circular economy. Thanks to innovative policies and strong collaborations, we manage to reduce our material footprint while securing our raw materials. CILO not only makes circular logistics tangible, but this experiential space also shows how our region as the logistics hub of Europe is helping to shape the transition to an innovative and competitive economic model." said the prime minister.
The opening of CILO was attended by some 200 business leaders and enjoyed great interest from the press. The new circular innovations of companies displayed in LogiVille completed the story.
"VIL makes visible with CILO what many do not realize, namely that logistics is the driving force in achieving a circular economy. With the current economic challenges, innovation is more important than ever," says Danny Van Himste, vear Chairman VIL and CEO DHL International.
CILO was realized with the support of ERDF and Flanders and can be visited from today. You can book a guided tour at www.logiville.be.
