On May 14, the new Linde Xi forklifts were officially presented to the Belgian public. These electric forklifts have lifting capacities of up to 2 tons and are as powerful as their diesel or gas-powered counterparts. Moreover, they have a unique design that provides both compactness and added comfort. The launch event was organized by Linde distributor Motrac and took place at their site in the Port of Antwerp.
The uniqueness of the Xi10 - Xi20 forklifts lies in the integrated lithium-ion battery. Because it takes up less space than the classic battery compartment, the Xi series is a lot more compact than its predecessor. At the same time, these forklifts offer more leg and headroom in the cab, allowing even the largest forklift operators to ergonomically complete their workday.
In addition to saving space, this battery also provides unprecedented power production. With an electrical voltage of 90 V, it delivers - in combination with the synchronous reluctance motors - as much power as a combustion engine. In addition, the electronic components are fully protected against external shock and dirt, two elements that classically cause problems in electrical devices. These features make the Xi series a full-fledged, sustainable alternative for customers who want to make their material handling fully electric.
Nicknamed "The Next Champ," these Xi forklifts were appropriately demonstrated by the reigning world forklift driving champions. Together with presenter Virginie Claes, they demonstrated the unique features of this series during a 40-minute show. Before and after this show, attendees were also able to sit in the machines themselves, and learn more about the latest trends in energy, automation and safety. They could also admire the new devices of the more classic E14 - E20 series.
The first units of this new series will already be driving around Belgium in the near future. The first deliveries are already scheduled for the coming weeks.
