At the request of the transport sector, Groeneveldt Grijpers has developed a hydraulic road plate gripper.

Groeneveldt surprises with road plate grapple

In 2019/2020, the company completely doubled in floor space and production capacity, and as many as 550 standard products left the premises.

Today, Groenveldt Grapples realizes 40 percent of its sales from forestry activities and 50 percent from infra, transfer and transport. The remainder consists of making special constructions and machine modifications. The company has enjoyed a great reputation in the forestry world for years, but is now explicitly aiming for a larger market share in the infra, transfer and transport sector.

Thanks to an exchange system, the gripper - depending on the width of the driving plates - can be easily equipped with short or long gripper arms.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

For years, various types of demolition/sorting grapples, transfer grapples and attachments have been supplied. Now they are also actively working on the development of new products. One such development is a new slab grab for the transport industry. Because many companies are switching from the smaller sizes of road plates to the new large sizes of 3.45 meters wide and a length of 6 or 12 meters, Groeneveldt Grijpers BV has developed a new hydraulic road plate gripper. This grab is equipped with a switch principle, so that the grab can be equipped with different types of grab arms.

With the longer gripper arms, the gripper has an opening dimension of 3.6 meters and with the short arms it is 2.6 meters. The arms can be easily swapped by loosening four bolts and attaching the other set of arms. Because the slab grab is equipped with wide pivot points, the turning radius of the grab arms remains as small as possible. In combination with the rotating Hardox shovel blades, plates can be picked up very easily. This minimizes the chance of the blades cutting or biting into the road and/or turf.

"The goal for the coming years is to continue to serve customers as well as possible and help provide a solution," Johan Groeneveldt concludes.
