Cooperation between ROCMN and SPG for sufficient and well-trained road construction workers

There is a great need for trained personnel for the civil engineering industry. Because it is difficult to meet the demand in the current market, ROC Midden Nederland and SPG Midden Nederland are joining forces. To strengthen the existing cooperation, a cooperation agreement was signed on Tuesday, May 21. The partners want to bundle specific knowledge and skills and make use of each other's expertise and facilities.

SPG Midden Nederland is the partnership of road construction companies. For these companies, SPG is continuously looking for young people who want to get their diploma while working. The SPG is going to cooperate with ROCMN as a new partner for this purpose. ROCMN would like to share and strengthen its knowledge and expertise in the field of training for the benefit of the GWW profession.

Training offerings expand
Due to the cooperation, the training offer of the Construction & Interior College of ROCMN will be expanded with five new courses in the field of Infratechniek as of September 1, 2019. It concerns the courses: (All-round) Hydraulic Engineer, Asphalt Worker, Balkman and Machinist GWW.

New execution location for ROCMN
The theory of the courses is carried out by teachers from ROCMN at the P.C. Staalweg 100 teaching location of partner SPG in Bilthoven. Students also receive practical lessons in a well-equipped practical hall where experienced teachers are on hand to assist them. The courses for (All-round) Construction Professional, Paving Router and All-round Pavement Engineer previously held in Nieuwegein will also move to the Bilthoven location.

Combining work and learning
BBL courses are always combined with a job with an employer. SPG Midden Nederland hires the students and places them with various road construction companies. In the winter period when there is less work, students go to school slightly more often than in the summer. On average it amounts to 1 day per week. The training is also paid for by SPG Midden Nederland.
