Complete new wheel loader Hydraulic and mechanical transmission, a unique solution for tomorrow's challenges

This powerful and versatile 24-ton wheel loader of the new generation is equipped with Komatsu's hydraulic and mechanical transmission (KHMT) and an EU Phase V engine. The WA475-10 not only features all the advantages of its predecessor, but also consumes 30% less fuel. Combining fuel efficiency, productivity and ease of use, it is perfect for any earth moving, hauling and loading job.

At low speeds, the EU Stage V-compliant Komatsu engine delivers high power and higher engine torque for more power. The exhaust aftertreatment system uses the Komatsu diesel particulate filter (KDPF) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The SCR system reduces NOx emissions by adding AdBlue®. The advanced, electric engine control system regulates airflow and fuel injection, combustion parameters and after-treatment functions: performance is optimized, emissions are reduced and advanced diagnostic functions are available.

The integrated KOMTRAX telematics system and the 3-year / 2,000-hour Komatsu Care™ maintenance program included with the machine purchase optimize fleet management, protect the machine from unauthorized use and ensure maximum efficiency and uptime.

It is now easier than ever before for the operator to find the ideal balance between traction and lifting power.

Innovations and benefits

Komatsu's hydraulic and mechanical transmission (KHMT) is an innovative Komatsu technology that makes the WA475-10 wheel loader even more powerful and fuel-efficient. Thanks to the stepless speed control, the maximum speed of the machine can be adjusted to suit site conditions throughout the speed range. The torque limiter prevents loss of grip on difficult surfaces.

With the new model, engine power control has something completely new: hydraulic speed can be controlled separately directly with the accelerator pedal. It is now easier than ever before for the operator to find the ideal balance between traction and lifting power. The Z-kinematics provide more lifting power and higher production speed. The lifting speed and stability of the machine also increase productivity, especially when loading in V-shape in confined spaces. Also, the response time of the hydraulic system and the lifting and tipping speeds can be adjusted according to site conditions. The new cab is more comfortable and spacious. The noise level in the cab is only 70 dB(A). With only 4 narrow posts and an all-glass surface, the operator is assured of perfect visibility. The lever console has a control knob that can be adjusted in 5 dimensions for greater operator comfort. The slightly increased air pressure in the cab prevents dust and other particles from entering. For safer entry and exit, the WA475-10 is equipped with rear-opening doors, sloping steps and large hand rails.

The 18-centimeter high-definition color screen shows key data, such as the state of the KDPF diesel particulate filter, the AdBlue®-level and fuel consumption. The eco-advisory system messages are displayed in real time during operations and on the shutdown screen when the engine is turned off. Through the eco menu, the operator can view usage history, eco advisories and fuel consumption. This data can be used to reduce fuel consumption and improve each operator's efficiency. Multiple features, such as automatic bucket filling, help the operator stay productive even during long working hours.

A new and more efficient air-sprung operator's seat allows the operator to work more comfortably. Electronic Pilot Control (EPC) levers integrated into the seat and the optional short steering wheel joystick simplify control and reduce operator fatigue. Other features help keep fuel consumption low. For example, the automatic engine stop function automatically shuts off the engine after a certain period of idling.

Other benefits

Cleaning and maintenance of the machine are easier than ever. The radiator has a coarse mesh grille and the cooling fan can be rotated and comes standard with an automatic reverse function. The electrically folding engine hood allows easy access to the engine compartment. The side-opening doors provide quick access to all daily inspection and maintenance points. Full rear mudguards are standard and on the AdBlue®-tank cap, the level is indicated so there is no overfilling. Maintenance costs are significantly lower and, as a result, operational costs throughout the life cycle. More information can be obtained from the BIA Group.
