Arnauts Gastransport, a family-owned transport company with roots in gas distribution since 1981, recently switched its entire truck fleet to Mercedes-Benz Trucks. The choice of a single brand is not purely a technical decision, but the result of years of collaboration and trust in the local dealer Euro-Trucks Claes. Company manager Carl Arnauts looks back on a journey that began with a small Mercedes 608 and a second-hand tanker truck. Over the years, the company grew steadily, with a clear focus on reliability and efficiency. Today, Arnauts Gastransport has seven trucks and six drivers, and provides national transport and installation of propane gas installations on behalf of Primagaz.
The switch to Mercedes-Benz Trucks began in 2018, when Carl Arnauts was looking for a replacement for an older truck. “At that time, Paul Cooreman from Euro-Trucks Claes just dropped by to introduce himself,” says Arnauts. “We hit it off right away. Since then, we've always had a good relationship. Everyone in the garage helps us quickly and efficiently. That inspires confidence.”
That first Mercedes Atego turned out to be the start of a broader transition. In the years that followed, an Arocs with a crane for off-road work and several Actros bulk trucks were added. In 2025, the final step was taken: the entire fleet now consists of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

All recently purchased vehicles are covered by a Complete Service Contract, which ensures predictable maintenance costs and fewer surprises. “Service contracts make it easier for us to calculate our prices for Primagaz,” explains Arnauts. “In the past, there were often unexpected costs, but now we have a clear overview.”
Digital support via Fleetboard is also available, although its use is currently limited. Electrification is not yet on the agenda, given the nature of the work and the distances traveled each day. However, Arnauts Gastransport has been using HVO fuel for over a year now as an environmentally friendly alternative.

In addition to technical reliability, driver comfort is also an important consideration. “Our drivers often spend long days in the truck,” says Arnauts. “That's why we attach great importance to driving comfort, ergonomics, and support. Heated seats, air suspension, and assistance systems make the work more pleasant. The drivers are enthusiastic about these features and appreciate how they contribute to their well-being during long journeys.”
For Arnauts Gastransport, choosing Mercedes-Benz Trucks is not a marketing decision, but a logical step in a story that revolves around reliability, proximity, and cooperation. “We work with a strong and committed team, both in our company and at Euro-Trucks Claes,” concludes Arnauts. “That makes all the difference. And when everything can be arranged in one place, it just makes things easier.”
