Advanced selectable auxiliary hydraulic controls for mini-excavators

The Bobcat Advanced Selectable Auxiliary Control (A-SAC) system developed for 2 to 4 ton R-Series mini-excavators has won a "Technical Innovation Award" from the judges of the Samoter Innovation Awards 2020. The award was presented at a ceremony held on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the Samoter B2Press dinner in Italy.

The Innovation Awards are part of the activities within the framework of Samoter 2020-the most important trade fair for the construction industry in Italy, taking place in Verona from March 20-25, 2020. The A-SAC system will be on display both on the Bobcat booth and in the fair's outdoor demonstration area and is one of many new developments from Bobcat to be showcased at this edition of the triennial Samoter international construction trade fair.

Auxiliary hydraulic cartridges

Bobcat introduced the company's original Selectable Auxiliary Hydraulic Control (SAC) system in 2018 with the launch of its R-Series mini-excavators. The SAC system is a unique solution developed by Bobcat that allows operators to customize the control patterns of Bobcat excavators' auxiliary hydraulics circuits depending on setting preferences for the use of hydraulic attachments.

The SAC system is operated using the push buttons conveniently located on top of each of the joysticks in the excavators. Combined with the SAC switch on the control panel, the operator can select one of seven preset combinations of control patterns so that he can keep his hands on the joysticks while performing his work. This leads to increased productivity and saves time and money that would otherwise be lost getting used to new working methods or resetting the machine.

A-SAC

"We developed the A-SAC system to further enhance the original SAC functionality by allowing the operator to adjust the speed of each function. Using the A-SAC system, the operator can easily personalize settings for up to seven different attachments or applications. This improves performance and precision when using specific attachments," said Robert Husar, product line manager for mini-excavators at Bobcat, commenting on this unique OEM functionality for compact machines.

The A-SAC system is available as an optional feature for current and future Bobcat R-Series excavators and can also be built into all Bobcat R-Series excavators from 2-4 tons.

Use of A-SAC

For grappling operations, the operator can choose tilt functions (AUX4) and rotation functions (AUX2), combined on the left joystick, with the open/close function (AUX1) remaining independent on the right joystick. The A-SAC system allows the operator to adjust the speed of each of these functions individually to suit particular tasks or to his skill levels. When the operator moves to another task with the same attachment, he can easily switch to another setting predefined by him with the A-SAC system.

The R-Series mini excavator series from 2 to 4 tons consists of five compact excavator models - the E26, E27z, E27, E34 and E35z. They offer the best-in-class mix of excellent visibility, high breakout force, excellent stability and smooth controllability of work functions, complemented by low weight for easy transport. The machine's excellent fit and finish and practical design features make the Bobcat R Series an interesting addition to the range of Bobcat machines.

The new excavators introduce many advanced features and offer an enhanced level of quality and robustness. They utilize newly developed flexible machine platforms that allow different configurations of models and specifications to meet a wide range of applications and customer needs. The development team has significantly improved engineering and productivity for the new machines. It has also ensured that they offer much greater operator comfort and functionality and are the best choice for key applications.

Bobcat on the Samoter

From March 21 to 25, 2020 Bobcat will present the latest additions to its full-liner range of compact equipment at Samoter 2020 in Verona, Italy under the themes of Technology, Innovation and Efficiency. These include wheel loaders and track loaders, mini-excavators, telehandlers and attachments. At booth A15-B16 in hall 9 solutions for earth moving, road work, rental, demolition, waste and recycling, material handling and landscaping will be on display. Among other things, the new Bobcat M-Series and R-Series loaders will be presented and innovative new technologies such as A-SAC, remote control, Quad-Track and MaxControl will be demonstrated.
