BIO-BASED REJUVENATOR FOR SEVERELY AGED ASPHALT GRANULATE

Aging (oxidation) causes bitumen to become brittle and less elastic. The cause of this brittleness is that specific components in the bitumen are converted to more polar, oxidized components that begin to separate, creating an inhomogeneous material.  NeoMex^® HR of Latexfalt is able to largely counteract this separation again, creating a more homogeneous and flexible material.  

This distinguishes NeoMex^® HR of many "softeners" as these materials only add soft components, while "real" rejuvenators restore the homogeneity of aged bitumen.  This homogeneity is particularly important at lower temperatures and precisely the cold properties of with NeoMex^® HR rejuvenated-aged asphalt granules are excellent.

Multicomponent product

NeoMex^® HR is a multi-component product and is formulated to be suitable for all types of aged asphalt granules, its action is independent of the type of base bitumen and [polymer] modification. Due to its specific composition, the rejuvenator will quickly soak into the aged bitumen and will also restore flexibility to SBS-rich domains in the bitumen.  These unique properties make NeoMex^® HR  is the rejuvenator of choice for application of aged ZOAB asphalt granulate in new open top layers, for example.  

Safety, health and environment

The product is formulated from multiple BioBased components, with no chemical modification. NeoMex^® HR therefore meets all necessary European safety and environmental requirements. The MKBI and LCA values are clearly better than those of alternative rejuvenators. Also, the raw materials are produced almost entirely on Dutch soil. In addition, CO₂-emissions due to transportation and storage are minimized to a great extent.
