A durable and comfortable choice

Blow-in plenums for distribution centers and warehouses

With the energy transition in mind, more and more companies are looking for ways to make their buildings more sustainable. Also when it comes to heating and cooling. "For example, in distribution centers and warehouses, more and more people are switching from traditional gas heaters to modern heat pump systems," notes Rick Duifhuis Technical Support/Sales at Smitsair Jetsystemen BV. "Our SAC blow-in plenums fit this seamlessly."

Smitsair Air Conditioning Plenum (SAC) blow-in plenums can be connected to any type of heat pump. "Because we engineer and produce the blow-in plenums in-house, we are completely free in size and design," Duifhuis said. "Based on the heat pump specifications (dimensions, pressure and air volumes), the blow-in height and the surface area to be air-conditioned, among other things, we engineer an effective and energy-efficient custom air distribution system for each building."

Large throw, without vertical temperature difference

Distribution centers and warehouses are generally large and high open spaces with often high racking and narrow rack paths, Duifhuis knows. "With our blow-in ornaments, it is possible to get the heated or cooled air precisely into those rack paths where the need is greatest. The high-induction jets in the blow-in plenum create such a large throw that we can flush the room with air over, say, 40 meters. The mixing of the air happens very evenly, so the vertical temperature difference is zero."

The plenum boxes connect exactly to the supply mouth of the heat pump indoor units, eliminating the need for additional ductwork for air distribution.

Compact design, easy assembly

"Our blow-in plenums are distinguished by a compact design," Duifhuis emphasizes. "You can mount them on the ceiling anywhere you want. Installation is also very easy. The plenum boxes connect exactly to the supply mouth of the heat pump indoor units, so no additional ductwork for air distribution is required. Tightening a few screws and bolts is sufficient, which also reduces installation costs. In combination with the heat pump, considerable savings are also made on heating costs. Not for nothing are our plenums increasingly prescribed in specifications."

Nice references for the SAC blow-in plenums are, for example, the fulfillment center of Bol.com in Waalwijk, the distribution center of Verbruggen Food Group in Haps and the distribution center for ProDelta Real Estate in Ede.

Additional systems

In its advice, Smitsair Jetsystemen BV includes not only the halls themselves, but also the accommodation passages. Think for example of the large (rolling) doors and loading and unloading areas (dock shelters), where air curtains prevent unwanted heat loss to the outside. "And also when ventilation is desired, we can engineer and supply a suitable system," Duifhuis concludes. "This allows us to offer a sustainable customized solution for every project and customer request."
