The Port of Brussels is the beating heart of the city and the canal is its main artery. It runs across the capital for more than 14 kilometers and provides a port area of 116 hectares, both an economic pole and a center for water sports and a seaport.
The Port of Brussels aims to promote waterborne transport (the most environmentally friendly mode of transport), create jobs, fight against global warming and focus on better urban distribution.
The port is the second largest inland port in our country and is only 5 hours by boat from the Port of Antwerp. It has 8.67 km of quays along the waterway that crosses the Brussels-Capital Region from north to south. The port cluster houses 350 companies and provides almost 8,000 jobs directly and indirectly!
Besides the traditional duties of a port operator, the port is also responsible for maintaining the canal and infrastructure.
