CORPORATE TEXTILES IN A FULL-SERVICE SYSTEM
From its 42 locations across Europe, MEWA provides companies with workwear and safety clothing, cleaning cloths, oil absorbent mats and floor mats, as well as sinks for parts cleaning as part of a full-service offering. In addition, occupational safety products can be ordered under the “World Wide Work by MEWA” brand.
MEWA, founded in 1908, is today a leader in the textile management sector. The MEWA service system offers a time-saving and professional alternative to purchasing textiles. Textile management at MEWA involves providing, delivering, and picking up textiles at agreed-upon times, as well as washing, finishing, repairing, and replacing them in case of wear and tear.
The corporate group has approximately 4,900 employees who serve a total of 172,000 customers in the manufacturing, retail, construction, skilled trades, and food service industries.
MEWA’s Belgian branch operates out of Binche. MEWA Binche has 195 employees. 7,200 contract customers from various sectors—ranging from auto repair shops to printing companies, from metalworking firms to the food industry—entrust MEWA with the expert care of their reusable cleaning cloths and workwear.
MEWA Binche processes approximately 180,000 garments each month. About 40,200 employees head to the worksite wearing workwear from one of the MEWA collections. To ensure that each employee always receives their own jacket, pants, smock, or coveralls, every garment is equipped with a barcode. Thanks to the IT-driven identification system, the path through the entire supply process—from receipt to delivery—can be tracked precisely.
Special washing lines are used for the approximately 1.9 million cleaning cloths, 4,500 floor mats, and 2,400 towel rolls processed each month. MEWA offers not only the best cloths, but also the best machines for processing them, as well as highly qualified, motivated employees.
A responsible approach to water, air, and energy is one of MEWA’s core principles. Modern washing processes, computer-controlled dosing and control systems, the reuse of wash and rinse water, and a physicochemical-biological process for treating wastewater all contribute to sustainable business operations.
