Cold stores have a lot to endure anno 2022. Not only are they crammed with products, high energy prices are also causing high operating costs. Mobile pallet racking from SSI SCHAEFER provides an effective solution to both challenges. "With our mobile pallet racking systems, not only is the required storage space optimised; additional space is also freed up", explains Account Manager for Dynamic Systems Dorothee Steverink. "Thanks to the mobile principle, only one aisle is needed to reach all goods. This significantly increases the storage capacity. With the same space volume, almost twice as many frozen products can be stored. As a result, the energy (cold) introduced into the cold store is used optimally. Conditions for a backlash-free run

The pallet racks often form the basis of the cold store, around which the general contractor erects an insulated freezer cabinet. "The basis of our mobile system is an SSI SCHAEFER rail system, which is mounted on the foundation based on detailed drawings and (load) calculations," says Van Mullem.

Efficient warehouse logistics

"A major advantage of mobile pallet racking is that one works with one aisle per racking zone," Steverink emphasizes. "Combined with an opening and closing speed of approximately 4 meters per minute, continuous order picking and efficient warehouse logistics are guaranteed. Upon request, links to a higher-level warehouse management system (WMS) are also possible, taking order processing to an even higher level. It is also good to sit down with a customer at an early stage for the WMS link. SSI SCHAEFER provides added value to the customer with its broad expertise." 

Also for existing buildings

In addition to new construction, it is possible to integrate SSI SCHAEFER mobile pallet racking systems into existing warehouses (ambient and/or deep-freeze). "To make this retrofit possible, an additional floor is often added so that an ultra-flat floor, even running and excellent load distribution are ensured," explains Steverink.
