Nominees matexpo Awards 2021 announced

The independent jury composed of industry specialists, led by jury president Danny Van Parys, selected the three nominees for the three Awards - the Innovation Award powered by ING for the most innovative product, the Green Award for the product with the most environmentally friendly features and the Safety Award for the most innovative safety application - which you will find below in no particular order. A total of 51 applications were submitted this year: 22 for the Innovation Award powered by ING, 17 for the Green Award and 12 for the Safety Award. The winners in each category will be announced on Tuesday evening, September 7, during MATEXPO's official opening ceremony.

Atlas Copco Belgium BV - Power Technique - ZenergiZe energy storage system (Atlas Copco)
Atlas Copco's ZenergiZe is a new series of lithium-ion energy storage systems that can be used as a standalone solution or in combination with generators to create a hybrid energy solution, renewables or microgrids. ZenergiZe emits neither CO2 nor NOx, makes no noise and has virtually no maintenance requirements, allowing operators to minimize environmental impact while benefiting from a low cost of ownership.

Interparts - Transparent loading bucket for wheel loaders (DOOSAN)
Doosan's transparent bucket is a fully integrated system that allows the operator of a wheel loader to see the blind corners in front of the bucket on the machine through the in-cab monitor. The patented system captures images at the front of the wheel loader with two cameras mounted at the top and bottom of the machine and displays the combined images in real time on the in-cab monitor using a curved projection method.

Olivier NV & ProFound - ProsecO 430 Interchangeable and recyclable drilling crown (Olivier & ProFound)
In cooperation with ProFound, Olivier SA has developed a drilling crown that can be replaced on site in just 10 minutes. Moreover, this process is very environmentally friendly, as the worn out drilling crowns can be recycled for 100%. The exchange system patented by Olivier SA, which consists of 4 plugs, ensures that a worn drilling crown can be easily detached. This exchange system goes perfectly with the ProFound patented cast iron drilling crown.

Luyckx NV firm - H2 Dual Fuel Technology (Hitachi ZX350-7 & New Holland T5.140 AC)
The high load factors of diesel engines on excavators and agricultural tractors do not currently allow machines to be equipped with batteries and/or fuel cell technology in a "commercially cost-effective manner." To provide a solution, in collaboration with CMB.TECH, the Hitachi ZX350-7 and the New Holland T5.140 AC were converted to blend hydrogen at into the diesel engine. This pretreatment ensures that the machine's CO2 and NOx emissions can be drastically reduced.

Manitou Benelux - Reviv'Oil hydraulic oil management (Manitou)
Contamination is the cause 70% of mechanical component failures in hydraulic and lubrication systems. Manitou offers a solution with a hydraulic reservoir designed to facilitate hydraulic oil sampling and cleaning. Thanks to the 3-in-1 mobile device (sampling/cleaning/change), one can easily take an oil sample for analysis, filter the oil to clean it during preventive maintenance and/or replace it when an oil change is necessary.

Near grid Solutions BV - Power Booster mobile city battery (Near grid Solutions)
The Power Booster is an alternative to diesel groups on construction sites. It is a mobile urban battery that is connected to the low voltage 400 V 3 phase 25 A grid. The battery provides the high electrical power for the tower crane and yard machinery. The Power Booster 'refuels' from the grid, as soon as it can, with low electrical power. The Power Booster is as quick and smooth to deploy as diesel groups, but does not have the drawbacks. It is a reliable, sustainable solution, quiet and flexible, with proven track record.

Safety Award

CGK Group - stabilization blocks (LODAX)
LODAX stabilization blocks are designed to safely support and stabilize mainly static loads (e.g., heavy machinery or products). The plastic blocks can be safely stacked on top of each other and provide multi-layered and rigid support. Made from recycled plastic material, the blocks can be used to support heavy machinery during any maintenance activity.

Husqvarna Construction - Cutter with kickback guard (Husqvarna K 970 SmartGuard & K 770 SmartGuard)
SmartGuard is an extended saw blade guard that reduces the chances of an accident and conditions involving kickback by emphasizing proper technique and cutting. The two gasoline cutter K 770 and K 970 are both available with a factory premounted SmartGuard guard, which is also available separately for retrofitting on a K 770 and K 970.
