In addition to a more conventional 2-part excavator arm with overhead articulating cylinder for traditional applications such as digging or truck loading, a special Mecalac arm with offset function is also available for more diverse work.
The latter is quite unusual for such compact models. After all, the 6MCR and 7MWR are the benjamins within the French manufacturer's range of excavators and have two or three larger types above them. Mecalac thus gives both models even more distinctiveness. The MCR series stands out for its skid-steer loader-inspired undercarriage, offering a travel speed of as much as 10 mph. The MWR series is distinguished by a significantly lower cab, with the fuel tank housed in the undercarriage. This results in unprecedented stability.
Mecalac significantly revamped the MCR and MWR models last year. In addition to a slightly different design with sharper lines, the interface for the monitor has also been overhauled. This makes the machines even more intuitive to operate and gives the operator even more feedback. Under the hood is a 55.4 kW (75 hp) Deutz power unit, which delivers 260 Nm of torque and complies with the Stage V emissions standard. Thanks to the agility of the Mecalac excavator boom, which folds backward up to 130°, the 6-ton crawler excavator and 7-ton tire crane couple maximum stability with optimum handling.
Mecalac has recently added a second boom variant to the two most compact excavators in its range. This alternative allows distributor Matermaco Group to best meet user needs. In the new configuration, the articulating cylinder is located above the center boom section and not below it, as in the Mecalac arm. This difference results in a larger opening angle, faster movements and more penetration force. The equipment of the excavator arm has the same dimensions as that of the Mecalac arm, so it can be used with excavators or buckets as well as pallet forks.
