Kobelco shows automated excavator with engcon rotary attachment at Bauma Fair

At the Bauma Fair 2019, one of the world's largest manufacturers of excavators, Kobelco Construction Machinery, in cooperation with engcon and Leica Geosystems, is showing an automatic excavation and turning tilt system. "An exciting solution developed jointly by us," says Krister Blomgren, managing director of engcon Group.

Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe B.V. (KCME), engcon and Leica Geosystems are showing the first rotary tilt compatible excavator system on a Kobelco SK210LC-10 excavator at Bauma Fair. This system combines the latest 3D Machine Control (3DMC) technology from Leica Geosystems with engcon's world-leading technology with respect to pivot attachments.

Kobelco and engcon, together with Leica Geosystems, have developed a system for automatically controlling the boom's up and down movements, and the position, tilt and rotation angle of the bucket, with one simple movement of the control lever. This system is extremely flexible, allowing the operator to choose from Auto Book Control, Auto Bucket Control, Auto Tilt Control and Auto Rotation Control (or a combination), for maximum control.

"This system came about through a joint effort. The cooperation went great and it was a nice experience to see this excavator with engcon equipment in operation here at the fair. A feature that received a lot of attention and many positive reactions," says Krister Blomgren, managing director of engcon Group.

The Bauma Fair is the world's largest exhibition in the field of the construction industry. For 7 days, this fair is visited by half a million visitors, more than 3,000 exhibitors and almost 1,500 journalists.

A total European introduction of Kobelco's automatic excavator and turntable system is planned for the first quarter of 2020.
