It is an anniversary year for Demolition and Recycling Equipment BV of Cuijk, better known as Demarec. Twenty years ago, experienced engineer Ruud de Gier and headstrong marketer Marcel Vening decided to realize their plans. Meanwhile, their Demarec is an established name in the equipment market for the demolition and recycling industry. This is partly thanks to a continuous stream of innovative products. Latest highlight is the competitive pulverizer from the pioneering EcoLine.
That success can indeed be a choice, Ruud de Gier and Marcel Vening have been proving for years. Marcel looks back with pleasure: "From the very beginning we believed that Demarec was going to be a success, after all, otherwise you don't start a company. We never assumed it could go wrong. Although, of course, we did make the necessary preparations to prevent us from failing." We see this reflected in the slogan "Great in innovation... down to the smallest details!
The ambition was (and is!) to bring truly innovative products to the market. The focus was on in-house product know-how and on strength, speed and quality. Vening: "Of course this comes at a price, but the added value has always been more than worth it in our eyes. After all, the customer was willing to pay more than our competitors were asking and thus really chose us and our innovative product." In 2006, this was honored by joining the international Kinshofer Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of attachments.
Looking back is fun, looking forward is wiser. The future is therefore an extension of the ambition that both pioneers have always had: to bring innovative products to the market. Marcel: "In our industry you can see that in the future we will mainly look at dust production, vibration and noise, something we are already working on. In addition, the biggest challenge lies in developing our tools more cost-consciously. We have customers who spend tons on a machine and then choose a cheaper tool that can cut 25% less than ours. We always say, "In the end, it's only about the tool." That challenge, to make people aware that investing in quality gets you more, is one that's going to keep us even more busy in the near future."
Rotary pulverizers
The first product within the Ecoline are rotary pulverizers for excavators in the weight class between 5 and 25 tons. "These new EcoLine DLP models are specially designed to bring a competitive pulverizer to the market, aimed at the mid-range segment, of course with the full Demarec DNA. It's a completely new concept with mostly new interchangeable wear parts and this pulverizer can be used in primary and secondary demolition," Jason said. "For example, the products in the Demarec EcoLine have a simpler standard cylinder technology and a different technical structure, including a different tooth plate system. But we simply find the Demarec philosophy of fully interchangeable wear parts in the new DLP line. We haven't compromised on that, of course. In addition to these rotary diggers, other products will follow within the EcoLine."
EcoLine: competitive products with full Demarec DNA
Demarec is breaking new ground. We talk about it with commercial manager Jason Sanders. A trendsetter with an extensive product line of innovative products with "superior quality aimed at the top of the market," Demarec is now also working on an Eco line. These are competitively priced products for a new target group. Jason is happy to explain: "During the development of our EcoLine products, we did not make any concessions to our quality standards, but above all we looked for opportunities to develop products with a more advantageous final price for the customer. Then I think of a contractor who only needs to do a demolition project occasionally or in situations where the demolition work is not very complicated. This is also a product for new emerging markets where demolition is at a much lower level than in Western Europe."
