With Strömsund as its base, world-leading manufacturer of turntables continues to expand. In 2019, 20 new key personnel were recruited to prepare the organization for steady global growth.
Engcon began in Strömsund in 1990 as a small company with a few employees. Founder Stig Engström designed, assembled and sold the products directly to end users. In parallel with sales, all parts of the company then grew. The headquarters, factory and most of the administrative functions are still located in Strömsund.
Over the years, Engcon has built an international organization. Today Engcon has branches in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, France, Benelux, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Korea and Australia.
"We are now truly an international company. That requires new competencies. Hence the importance of our strategic recruitment over the past year. Global activity means that Engcon has active customers 24/7 somewhere in the world. This is why we have strengthened our team with two so-called Region Managers. They work integrated with our sales offices around the world, as a link to the head office in Strömsund," says Krister Blomgren, Director at Engcon.
Blomgren continues: "We also have a Marketing Manager today with the task of creating a unified central communication for our trademark and supporting our various markets. To work those new markets, we have also hired an international Sales Manager. This person is in charge of a team of salespeople for markets where we do not yet have our own office."
Stig, owner and founder of Engcon, gives his views on Engcon's development:
"It now even more important that information reaches all employees within the organization. It is a challenge to achieve a common vision and shared values, for all employees around the world."
Engström continued: "We want to expand the company further, while maintaining our strong corporate culture. So taking good care of our staff is also important. That is why our company's HR department has been expanded. One of the HR managers focuses on personnel working in our growing markets, i.e. outside Sweden."
In step with Engcon's growth, the company sees an increasing need for structure, processes and procedures to deliver top products to customers around the world. Stig Engström says, "When all of our 300 employees do the right things, it gets a big impact in the long run. It is important to build a company culture and an organization that works well, for better or worse. The recruitment of the past year is therefore of great importance for our expansion."
A combined production and procurement manager was also appointed in 2019 with an eye on the company's production and procurement processes. Engcon has also expanded its leadership with competence that was previously lacking.
"Before, we worked primarily solution-oriented. Now we need to structure without compromising our business flexibility, because that is one of our most important elements. Including both our marketing manager and production and purchasing manager in the leadership also gives us a balanced group. An important change for upcoming expansion," observes Stig Engström.
