The upcoming edition of both Aqua Nederland Vakbeurs and RioleringsVakdagen will be moved to June 16, 17 and 18, 2020 due to the corona virus. Bas van Gent, group director Easyfairs explains: "Initially, the fair was to take place on March 17, 18 and 19, entirely in line with the RIVM guidelines. These guidelines now still indicate that large events can go ahead. Also, we are still getting the confidence of our partners and 95% from the exhibitors. However, since this week we see a change in the guidelines with the water companies and industries of the Netherlands and immediately thereafter a big brake on visitor registrations. With the situation in North Brabant, where the trade show has a strong base, and the fact that many visiting companies are responsible for a vital infrastructure in the Netherlands and logically follow more stringent guidelines, we expect that we have gained momentum. As a result, we simply cannot offer a valuable moment for the Dutch water sector next week."
Van Gent: "The corona virus keeps us all in its grip. Given the unpredictability and inevitability of this virus that is beyond Easyfairs' control, we have decided specifically for Aqua Nederland Vakbeurs and RioleringsVakdagen to move the event. Moving the event is supported by our partners and the water sector."
Van Gent: "The new date is June 16, 17 and 18, 2020. We think it is important to give the water sector the opportunity to come together this year. There are legion of challenges that we need to address as a chain, for example in the areas of climate adaptation, emerging substances in treatment plants, water savings, energy transition and so on."
This week, all affected parties and stakeholders will be informed. "We regret that we are forced to decide to do this so shortly before the event. Especially given the considerable impact for the participating and related parties with all the preparations and things set in motion. Nevertheless, given the current situation, this is the only correct decision. We hope that the coronavirus remains contained and we are going to make mid-June an even bigger party for the water sector in the Netherlands," Van Gent concludes.
