Indeed, in the context of Build the Future, Manitou presented two new rigid telehandlers, the new ULM concept (which stands for Ultra Light Manitou) and the completely revamped series of rotary telehandlers to be discussed here with future-oriented designations: MRT Vision and MRT Vision+.
Manitou is busy renewing just about its entire fleet. The MRT series rotary telescopic handlers are leading the way. Both the MRT Vision and MRT Vision+ series will include six machines. The dozen newcomers will have lifting heights from 16 to almost 35 m and lifting capacities of up to 7 tons. At the same time, these machines themselves have been made up to some 5 % lighter (which also saves on fuel) and have an attractively larger capacity, with a percentage as high as 15 % mentioned compared to their predecessors. All MRT machines have an automatic transmission and offer travel speeds of up to 40 mph. The new hydraulics provide smoother operating speeds. For starters, two models - the MRT2260 and MRT2660 - will also be available as all-electric and hybrid versions. All MRT Vision machines, as usual for Manitou machines, will be available for rental or purchase through the dealer network.
We can see right away that the appearance of the Vision machines has changed dramatically. The new models are equipped with an entirely new high vision cab, visibly missing the familiar protective rack on the roof. This takes some getting used to, but it does give the operator a better view diagonally upwards, and that's what it's all about, after all. The panoramic cab offers good all-round visibility so the operator can handle his loads over 360 degrees without problems. In the (pressure) cab, we see an extra-large touch screen (12.1 inches = 30.7 cm) with pop-up information for easier maintenance. It is easy to operate even with gloves on. Manitou calls them "intelligent machines," thanks to their joystick with recognition system, their sound indicators in case of overload or excessive slope and their remote control to operate the loads. Another special feature of the cab is the access from all sides of the chassis, making it easy to climb up or down, regardless of the position of the superstructure.
Manitou has designed the MRT Vision series "for even greater comfort, safety, visibility, speed and efficiency in everyday use." The six rotary telescopic handlers in this series offer a working height of 16 to 25 m, as well as a working angle of up to 19.40 m. With a maximum capacity of 4,500 kg, they have three steering modes, with 2- or 4-wheel steering and a crab mode for oblique propulsion. Depending on work requirements, there is a wide range of accessories to choose from, from platforms, floating fork boards and pick-up buckets to two-hook boom, sweeper ...
The six-piece MRT Vision+ series replaces the well-known MRT Privilege+ series, with even better models in terms of capacity, visibility and comfort, offering professionals in construction and industry even better performance for all their (material transport) work. They are even faster machines, with movement speeds 30 % higher than the previous generation.
The MRT Vision Plus telehandlers are advanced versions of all-terrain forklifts and they can operate at heights of 22 to 35 m. Their maximum capacity is 6,000 or 7,000 kg over 25 to 30 m, with a working distance of up to 28 m. The machines weigh between 18 tons (MRT2260) and 24 tons (MRT 3570 ES)
The MRT Vision Plus is equipped with a new radio control with integrated display, giving full control over the load. As an option for night work, a 360-degree lighting system with 5 headlights can be chosen, placed at the ends of the machine.
