Collision protection and lineation leads to safer and more structured work

For Van Zetten, the move to the new building location was an excellent time to re-examine the safety and oversight of the shop floor. Commercial director Albart van Zetten: “We requested several quotations, but for us it was pretty soon clear that we wanted to do business with Flexbarrier. We really appreciated the approachable contact. Camiel van Asch, the director, is very knowledgeable, thought along with us and took the time to guide us through the process step by step. The high quality of their products also played an important role.”

Van Zetten is a family business with a history of 135 years, specializing in marketing table eggs for consumers. At the new location, the company has approximately 19,000 square meters of operating space. According to Van Zetten, this changed not only the scale of the business, but also the need for clear routing. “The old location consisted of several smaller halls with limited space. This meant that products were sometimes placed in the wrong place and aisles were difficult to access. The new location offers room not only for good collision protection, but also for a line of lines that can clearly demarcate driving routes, walkways and buffer zones. We seized that opportunity with both hands.”

Flexible

Six weeks ago, the plastic crash protection and lines were installed in the building. Steel crash protection has been installed on the outside terrain, and the lines will be realized soon. Flexbarrier's thinking along proved to be of great value during the implementation phase as well. “During the assembly, a few more choices were adjusted. For example, the engineer gave a better alternative for a low crash barrier we had chosen. The way this was subsequently resolved was particularly pleasant. Without effort the drawings were adjusted, the materials exchanged and the execution adjusted accordingly. Our experience with other companies is that in such cases they say: you just made this choice, so you have to take this. Flexbarrier, however, has a particularly customer-oriented way of working.”

Professional assembly

Van Zetten is also very satisfied with the installation: “The mechanic is really a man from the field, who knows what he is talking about and understands his job well. All the materials were installed nice and tight, there really isn't a single fence that I say: that's a bit crooked and needs to be redone.”

Visible effect

The staff at Van Zetten of Tiel experience the new situation as pleasant and clear. “They notice that the lineation really helps: products are now placed where they belong, instead of in random places. The plastic crash protection stands out well thanks to its yellow color and supports safe behavior in practice. For example, when employees get close to the barrier, you can really see them keeping their distance and maneuvering carefully.”

Another telling example of a safe working environment is the area near the stairs leading from the canteen into the production area. “A large fence has been installed there over a length of forty meters, about 1.15 meters from the door. In this way we have created a safe buffer zone for employees walking into the production area.”

Van Zetten is therefore positive about the entire process. “From the guidance to the purchase, the thinking out and the assembly: everything went smoothly. That's worth a compliment.”
