Good logistics planning and coordination is indispensable, as is fast and effective transportation. After all, if these activities are well organized, companies can focus on their core business. "Our strength is that as a chain director, we listen to what customers need and then offer them the best solution for their situation," states Alexander de Winter, Sr. multisite manager at Seacon Logistics.
"As a global logistics supply chain director, we have several activities under our belt: forwarding & transport, warehousing, supply chain solutions and customs support. The common denominator of these activities is value creation," begins Laurens Jan Kurstjens, sales and account manager. "We provide transportation of full and part loads, groupage, consolidated loads and special transport to and from any destination in the world. In doing so, we bring together the right logistics partners in our network so that transport is done in an efficient, reliable, cost-conscious and sustainable manner. We have a multimodal transport concept, with which we relieve the environment and reduce CO2 emissions," said Laurens Jan.
Value creation and a sustainable view of business, has been in Seacon Logistics' DNA since the company was founded in 1985. Colleague Alexander, explains: "Hai Berden, the founder of Seacon always had the vision of bringing the port of Rotterdam to the hinterland in a sustainable way. With partners in the Venlo-Venray region, he shaped the intermodal concept. In this region there is much more room for logistics activities to add value while being the perfect location to serve Europe."
Seacon Logistics has more than 200,000m2 of warehouse capacity in this region. It recently opened another brand new sustainable warehouse in Venlo with 45,000m2 of additional warehouse capacity, equivalent to about 80,000 pallet spaces. This warehouse, like Seacon's other warehouses, is equipped with modern technologies to accurately monitor shipments and established KPIs. Using an advanced WMS (Warehouse Management System), full insight and control over the logistics processes is possible.
"We don't offer a warehousing package but a contract logistics package," explains Laurens Jan. "Warehousing is often just about storing pallets and goods, plain and simple. With contract logistics, we go beyond the basics, so it includes a broad pallet of Value Added Services (VAS) and Value Added Logistics (VAL)." Alexander gives some examples. "Depending on the customer's wishes, we can prepare and label products for export, add instructions for use tailored to the final destination, turn multiple goods into one package, provide it with durable packaging for transport, and so on. We engage with the customer and then proactively devise solutions that are both effective, efficient and sustainable."
"Our secret lies in our personal approach," he continues. "We like to establish collaborations or partnerships that are founded on customer satisfaction. We do this by positively and proactively surprising them with solutions they might not have thought of or asked for themselves. If Henry Ford had listened to the market, he would have had to build a faster horse instead of a car. In short, we like to go the extra mile which leads to operational excellence. "
Corporate Social Responsibility
Since its founding, Seacon Logistics has attached great importance to corporate social responsibility. One example is Seacon's partnership with the Cruyff Foundation. In 2022 and 2024, Seacon transported a total of three custom-made Cruyff Courts to Lesbos for a refugee shelter and the local population.
