In the world of international transport and logistics, Ziegler's name rings like a bell. No wonder when you consider that this leading logistics service provider has been active since 1908 and today supports entrepreneurs in more than 200 countries. From road transport to air and sea freight, and from customs clearance to warehousing: the Ziegler Group is literally and figuratively at home in all markets. With Ziegler Expo Logistics, this global player has also been playing along in the event sector for many decades.
Ziegler has a rich history dating back to its founding in Brussels at the beginning of the last century. "Since those beginnings, the company has continuously developed and expanded, building a reputation as a reliable and dedicated logistics partner," said Xavier Vanwynsberghe, key account & sales director Belux at Ziegler Group. "Our employees have acquired a wealth of expertise to guide Belgian and foreign companies in the best possible way in terms of transport, logistics and warehousing."
The group offers a wide range of logistics services and solutions. Vanwynsberghe explains, "Obviously there is transport and freight management, with a focus on efficiency and reliability in road, air, sea and rail transport. Sustainable multimobility - with electrically powered transport modes where possible - is a common thread running through these services. Also for customs clearance, our team is a trusted partner for many entrepreneurs. This way, they comply with all requirements and regulations related to international trade."
"Warehousing and storage is another core activity of Ziegler Group. After all, we have modern warehouses and storage facilities at home and abroad, where our customers can store their goods safely and efficiently. From chemicals to cosmetics, and from fast-rotating consumer goods to medical products: we are active in just about every sector."
"In addition to these core logistics services, we are also strong in value-added services such as order picking, packaging and labeling," Vanwynsberghe points out. "And in close consultation with our customers, we develop customized supply chain solutions that reduce costs and boost operational performance."
An example of how Ziegler offers these services in practice can be found in Zeebrugge, among other places. There, the company opened a new logistics site on the Transport Zone in September 2022. "Ziegler Group bought a site there from Middlegate Europe, in order to manage unaccompanied ro-ro freight to the United Kingdom and Ireland," Vanwynsberghe said. "Across the Channel, our colleagues at Ziegler UK are ready with ten sites in the UK and two sites in Ireland. For a large industrial customer near Zeebrugge, we completely adapted this brand new warehouse to its needs, including stacking racks and temperature-controlled storage options. For optimal digital management of goods flows, we installed a very powerful Warehouse Management System (WMS). Every night, drones fly through the four contiguous buildings to take stock. This is just one example of how we at Ziegler Group continually invest in innovative warehouse and logistics."
One of the sectors in which Ziegler Group also makes a difference is the trade fair and exhibition sector. With the separate business entity Ziegler Expo Logistics, the group has been focusing on the transport, customs clearance and shipment of goods tailored for event organizers since 1958 - the year of the World Expo in Brussels. "During a fair or exhibition, customers can count on us for the safe storage of packaging, documentation, equipment and consumables needed to build a booth," Vanwynsberghe explains. "As the official freight forwarder and exporter for the Parc des Expositions in Brussels, we know the ropes. Tour & Taxis, Kartexpo in Groot-Bijgaarden and the major hotels of our capital city are also familiar workplaces for our team. And everything we do in Brussels, we can also realize worldwide."
