Expert in ultra-flat logistics flooring and full warehousing partner for warehouse equipment join forces
Alphaplan and WSI (Warehouse Systems Integrators) are both proud partners of Factory Logistics. One is an expert in ultra-flat logistics floors, the other a fullwarehousing partner for warehouse equipment. When they join forces, it creates a rock-solid partnership from which customers enthusiastically reap the benefits.
First stop: Hulshout. There is the headquarters of Alphaplan, a top Flemish player in ultra-flat grinding and digital measuring of industrial concrete floors. "Over the past decades we have built up great expertise in this niche. Worldwide, we have already completed hundreds of projects in some 30 countries," says Laura Kunnen, Commercial Director and Partner at Alphaplan. "With our automated grinding machines and extremely precise measuring robots, we realize ultra-flat warehouse and distribution floors for our customers. We do this in numerous sectors: automotive, food, pharmaceutical and, of course, logistics. For example, we help pave the way - or the floor in this case - for continuity in production lines or logistics handling, safe working conditions and efficient transport flows."
So a company like Alphaplan does much more than just ultra-flat grinding of logistics floors. "Thanks to our technical expertise and services, we are a partner for companies to increase the lifespan of their warehouse fleet and equipment, reduce maintenance costs on forklifts and maximize storage space efficiency. Due to a lack of available operating space, more and more companies are opting for automated high-bay warehouse construction, which further highlights the importance of ultra-flat floors. After all, the higher you stack, the more important a flat floor is as a work area."
Reducing the so-called total cost of ownership as much as possible is what the end user is all about. It comes down to maximizing the utilization of a warehouse at minimal operational costs. To guarantee its customers the highest possible return on investment, a global player like Alphaplan is fully committed to innovation. Laura explains: "Anno 2023, we have no less than seven patented floor developments. We also make grateful use of the Floor Simulator together with the major forklift truck manufacturers for training on the importance of an (ultra)flat logistics floor. And of course we can present the necessary ISO certifications, in particular ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001, together with compliance with the VCA standards in the field of health and safety."
Another success factor is the deployment of a worldwide network of agents who use Alphaplan's services locally to make their customers' logistics flows more profitable and efficient. The reverse is also possible: a logistics provider that includes Alphaplan's services in its portfolio. And so we end up in Stokrooie, Limburg, the base of operations of WSI (Warehouse Systems Integrators), founded in 1999. Managing director Sigurd Munters - son of founder Alain Munters - runs the company that specializes in assembling static and dynamic storage systems.
"Maintenance, inspection and moving are also part of our business," Sigurd confirms. "Together with my team, I want to continue to diversify, including labeling, fall-through protection systems and picking optimization as additional services."
With that transformation toward fullwarehousing partner for warehouse equipment also comes the guidance of customers regarding high-quality logistics flooring.
Sigurd: "Who better than Alphaplan to be our partner in this? We have the same drive with quality over quantity and a full-service approach. That is why we decided within WSI to act as the permanent representative for Alphaplan in the Benelux. The fact that we are jointly putting our shoulders to the test project Factory Logistics proves that we have the same ambitions. Within this test area, we envisage a set-up of our PALLITE® PIX storage systems."
