Joop van der Wal has a dream that he is making come true step by step. For example, the "foundation trade school" was launched at the beginning of April. "For several years we have been working within the industry to get an education off the ground that will bring the quality of employees to a higher level. Not just because employees lack sufficient knowledge, but mainly to make the foundation profession a profession one can be proud of."
Monday, April 11, was a wonderful day for Joop van der Wal: "As director of training center Crescendo from Hoorn, I am enormously proud of the start of the foundation vocational school, which - as I see it - is the beginning of a new era."
In three block weeks, various guest lecturers teach participants from different companies. The participants will receive a complete program of lessons, with valuable components to further improve their knowledge and skills in the areas of machine knowledge, communication, load handling, working at height and various other areas.
Joop is happy to explain what he has in mind with that, "By increasing knowledge and skills, there is even more of a connection between employees and employers. Ultimately, those employees are the calling card of foundation companies."
Learning how to handle loads properly is particularly close to Joop's heart: "I would like to draw attention to this, because I think the level of this is far too low. On the average construction site, people are often insufficiently capable of safely securing a load and the clients, superintendents and foremen pay absolutely no attention to this, while in my experience it is very necessary."
